The unit is well made for the money and fit and finish are good. The instructions are terrible. Many hardware items are not properly identified in the instructions and many others are not shown in the proper location. Take your time and you can figure it out but it is frustrating.Very good table. Two drawer backs were broken in transit. Called, got a real human, and they should arrive in the next few days. Good service.I was initially very hesitant to purchase this desk as there weren't any reviews at the time. However, after looking at the reviews of another desk by this company I figured I would give it a shot. I am so glad I did. I expected a lot out of this desk and it has fulfilled my needs and more.My needs might be unique, but I really wanted a lot out of a desk. We are a family of four in a rather small home. I needed a desk that could do it all. I wanted to be able to use it as a traditional desk and as a place I could sew/craft. It exceeded my expectations. The top of the desk is very roomy. I am able to fit a printer, desktop carousel and other desktop items easily and with ample room leftover. When I need to sew, I can easily clear it off and have more than enough space and a very sturdy area to work. Additionally, the desk surface is wipable so stray marks aren't a worry. I have 2 young children and there hasn't been a mark that I have had trouble removing which is great. The big, pull out drawer on the right side of the desk is great. I was afraid that it wouldn't fit my machine with it's cover on, but as you can see in the attached pictures, that wasn't a problem. It is extremely sturdy and has ample space. There is another little cubby above where the machine goes that actually enabled me to have a third use for this desk. I don't need that area for actual sewing/crafting supplies because I already have a seperate system in place to house all of those items. But, I found that I can fit my Orla Kiely makeup bag and an Ott-lite makeup mirror- http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004DN8F4S/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_awdl_2Qu-ub0XDX9J5 - perfectly in this area, so now I have a place to sit down and get myself ready in the morning. This was a great, unexpected surprise. Also, I should note that the top of this pull out drawer is a little area about 1.5" tall that can also house any small extras you might have.On the other side of the desk with the four drawers I am housing traditional office supplies. It should be noted that although the desk itself is about 23.5" deep, these four drawers are only 13.5" deep, seems like a lot of wasted space but it hasn't been a problem for me. The drawers are 13.5" wide, too. And I have been able to find solutions to organize each drawer which is nice. The top drawer doesn't have sides or a back, it was made to put your thread on the included dowels. However, as I mentioned, I already have another system for that so I wanted to put this drawer to use but didn't want anything to fly out of the back of this drawer if I closed it too hard. I found that if I put the last row of dowels in place I have just enough room to fit my mini laptop and my planner without fear that they will fall off since the dowels keep them from sliding. Perfect! The second drawer down I use to house additional office supplies. I purchased a square drawer organizer- http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AN8CTX0/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_awdl_eYu-ub0AZF94A -that works great for my needs and leaves extra room on the front and sides for additional items. The third drawer I use as my mail center. I didn't want something taking up room on the top of my desk so I found these drawer dividers- http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003M8GMYU/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_awdl_K3u-ub18W02WF - that work perfectly in the space so I can have an organized place to deal with incoming and outgoing mail. The bottom drawer is where I keep all of my extra printer paper and laminating paper. It took me and my husband about 4 hours to put this desk together. The instructions leave a lot to be desired. There is very little actual text instructions, mostly just pictures, thankfully it was pretty intuitive for my husband. I am not sure I could have figured it out alone.Lastly, when contemplating ordering this desk, keep in mind that it is extremely heavy. Make sure that you or someone else is home at the time of delivery because it is very unlikely that the delivery man can get this to your door alone. It took My husband (who is a UPS man) and the FedEx man who delivered it to unload it off of the delivery truck. As you can see, this desk has suited my needs very well. I couldn't have imagined a better desk for my needs and I would recommend this desk to anyone. The size is just what I wanted for a sewing desk. The drawer bottoms are very thin so not sure how much I can put in them. The corner of the desk top was damaged but not enough to make a fuss. Just be careful with the sharp corners. I wish the top drawer was configured like a real drawer. Instead it has no sides or back so only good for spools of thread. Luckily, I have a patient son-in-law who worked with me to put it together...for several hours.I was very excited to find this sewing table when I was reworking my room to fit my sewing machine back into my life on a daily basis. It had lots of good reviews (actually on Home Depot’s website) despite a considerable amount of complaints about it being difficult to put together. So, a few things:YES, it’s extremely heavy, but no heavier than any other piece of IKEA furniture of the same size. We did have to open the boxes and bring the pieces up to my room a few at a time. Not surprising for flat pack furniture.YES, you will probably want two people to put it together.NO, it should not take any longer than an equivalent piece of IKEA furniture. There were a few points where the instructions were a bit unclear, but that’s why you have a partner - to talk it through. Which is not to say you could not figure it out on your own.NO, the fit and finish is not as good as an equivalent IKEA piece of furniture. However, that said, it is still a very serviceable and sturdy sewing table. The surface of the table is a bit high, because the entire unit is on casters. You can’t remove them because you would not be able to use the machine storage side if you did. You may want a drafting style chair instead of a regular office chair if you are on the short side. The machine storage side that slides out is great. I was able to fit my serger and my old Bernina in it. So a big thumbs up for that. The drawers on the other side provide good storage. I did not use the spool dowels in the top drawer. Instead, I used some double sided tape to install a few small storage bins which work better for my purposes (needles, scissors, marking pens, etc.)Overall, I would recommend this unit as long as you understand that it is NOT an IKEA piece. I think it’s a bit expensive for what it is, however, it’s made in the USA, and that counts for something! It’s been a great addition to my sewing room.I received this desk in 2 boxes, both were damaged when they arrived. There is a crack in the side of the desk wood. It was very complicated to put together and I did not receive all of the hardware needed to build it. I have it mainly built missing a couple of drawers due to lack of hardware. It does look nice and for the price it is ok. I am just disappointed in the fact that I can’t finish putting it together. It will do what I need for now until I replace it with a better craft desk. The desk is perfect for me. Lots of storage. Very sturdy. Assembly was complicated. I'm 63 and put it together mostly by myself till it got to putting the top on. The slide out shelf is the most difficult. I can't get it to slide all the way in. I can't get it to come out of the desk to fix it either. I need to call customer service but it's ok having the shelf out all the way. I don't want to deal with trying to fix itWhen I saw this product I was so excited, it seemed to be everything I needed in a sewing table, sofoolishly I ignored some of the negative comments and ordered one.I consider myself an expert flat pack assembler and indeed putting the individual complaints together was a dream, quite relaxing in fact. Then came the nightmare of assembling the whole unit. Things suddenly didnt fit, cam bolts started to fall out and the whole table started to look cheap and nasty.I threw the pull out draw section away in the end, because it did not pull out, probably because the cabinet seemed a little too wide for the runners, the draws fit ok but didnt look like a quality finish at all. Then two days of light use and the cam bolts were not holding and one by one they have fallen apart. Also the white strip edging is coming away from the unit in several places. All in all this was a very expensive mistake, I would love to send it back but I doubt I could do that now it has been assembled. Every time I look at it I hate myself for buying such an expensive load of rubbish. Please learn from my mistake.Looking for an inexpensive sewing/craft table, came across this one and although the only review was horrendous, we went ahead and purchased it. My husband is DIY phobic and hated flat pack furniture in particular, BUT, this was a dream to assemble, we followed the clear drawings by assembling all the pieces on the page first and then putting them where told, it took us 3 hours, with 2 tea breaks, a walk with the dogs, and preparing dinner for when we had finished. All in all very satisfactory day, and it comes very well packaged, we were a bit worried because traveling any distance it was sure to arrive damaged, but wrong,it was and is perfect. And the sliding drawer/cupboard works a treat even on our new carpet.Table really nice but scratch really easy on top ,good size plenty of storage only complaint is regarding delivery tool over 2 months to arrive had send replacement out because apparently lost at carriers warehouse arrow xl took me weeks to get hold someone then they never rung backWe received this yesterday, it arrived 3 days after placing order. Box made it here intact, and when I opened the box I was impressed with the care taken in packaging. The instruction were right on top, (Guys... read them..), they give you a diagram with all the parts and how to stack them when you take things out of the box, I did that and found it super helpful when I started assembly.. as far as 90 minutes for assembly, it took me 2 hours start to finish.. so not that bad as I took my time as I have assembled knock down furniture before and rushing has gotten me into trouble.the instruction were clear, and I had no issues with the assembly. All pieces fit as they should and the drawers after assembly open and close smoothly.. First time for us with for South Shore furniture, I would purchase their other product should I have need based on this experience. Highly recommend this if you are in need for a crafting table with lots of storage.I love this thing! I put it together myself and I'm not a tool person. There was one minor bit of damage on a side panel, I sent a picture to the company and said don't bother replacing it as it wasn't an issue for me. 3 days later I had a new side panel. This thing is sturdy! and the roll out storage is a godsend. The drawers open and close with ease (I don't put 200lbs of crap in them either). Works beyond my expectations. I will definitely order their products in future!
